Wow, I’m married! It is true what they say it literally is the best day of your life! Now I can start publishing some posts that Ive had lined out throughout the planning process – first up, wedding invites!

More posts will follow once we have received our official photos… 🙂

Our wedding invites were one of the things I was most excited about! I am such a stationery lover – who else used to look forward to buying their new pencil case and notebooks etc. before the new school year?!

My lovely bridesmaid Annie-May is a super talented graphic designer and immediately stepped up to design our wedding stationery. I jumped at the chance and absolutely loved being part of the design process.

After about 3,000 WhatsApp messages and a media folder bigger than you can imagine, I couldn’t be happier with the final results!

I thought I would share with you a series of photos from the design process, culminating in the final products!

The brief I gave to Annie-May was:

  • Elegant
  • Classic/timeless
  • Floral, featuring roses and eucalyptus (like my bouquet)
  • Blush pink/ivory/green foliage
  • Calligraphy

And the finished product…

For the actual wedding invite and inserts, we spent much more time perfecting them. We loved the save the dates but Annie-May and I both wanted to create a more natural and less ‘digital’ wedding invite series which could then be translated into all of our ‘on the day’ stationery too.

It started from the bare bones of hand painted watercolour:

To digital drafts…

But these looked too ‘flat’, so she added some texture:

We had lots of ideas of flower types, shapes and colours:

And created what we thought was our final version:

But then we decided to switch back to watercolour:

Beautiful right? But we still weren’t happy haha!

We decided to merge the two together to create the perfect combination of natural watercolour but with a slightly bolder colour …

Et voila!

I LOVE THEM. All finished off perfectly with a personalised wax seal from Heirloom Seals.

Annie-May also kindly designed our table plan, place names, table names, menu cards, welcome sign & favours signs. Thank you to the lovely Lucy at ABC Printing too who was also a gem when it came to printing for us!

Here is a preview of our ‘on the day’ stationery…
